Try putting a little wine in a bowl where the fruit flies congregate. They'll drown but they'll go happily!!!

I've been having the same problem, and never leave food out. I've managed to get rid of them by using a spray bottle filled with water.....it knocks them right to the ground. It may take a little while to get rid of them all because they only have a lifecycle of one day and unless you happen to get them before they lay eggs, you'll have to deal with their offspring. Having said that, I am now fruit fly free and very happy about it! Good luck to you, perserverance is definately the key.

Always depose of fruit waste in sealed plastic bags. They are also present in Banana skins and as you store Bananas, these flies hatch from them. If you seal them in a container, you will see them fly out every time you open the container.

First, always get rid of anything that would attract them and keep a lid on trash cans in the house. I keep out little dish or lids from jars I've thrown away with a little water in them with a couple drops of dawn dishwashing liquid in the water. It attracts them and once they drink it they fly off and die. As soon as I see just one I lay out the lids. They're gone.

Flies become a nuisance when they enter homes. You can get rid of these by using pest control.
