What's with a city that rebuilds a Superdome so their pro sports team can play instead of using millions of donated $$ to rebuild people's homes?? Seems kinda crazy to me. It's a city below sea level. The only reason it exists is because of walls that are supposed to keep water out. Mother Nature won't be stopped. Katrina proved that. I say let it go and rebuild it on land that's meant for a city. Maybe next time, people won't be so willing to donate since it is a choice to live behind a wall below sea level and then rebuild a Superdome before the people receive help.

I had thought about moving there before moving to Atlanta, but when I was looking at apartment prices there in the city, I was flabbergasted at the apartment prices, they were outrageous, plus the job market is virtually non-existent right now. I do know though, that they are slowly making a come back because the company that I do work for now here in Atlanta does a lot of trade shows out there and that the hotels are always booked, so we know they are doing business, so hopefully they will be on the rebound soon.

Thats not very nice, how would you feel if people talked about your hometown like that. Everyone loves and has an allegiance to the place they are from. All the childhood memories of playing with your friends, dances, parties, etc. Even if you came from somewhere crappy it is usually still special to you.
Take the Bronx, NY for example...thats nothing more than a big dirty, criminal infested city but the people from there love it and are proud of where they come from.

New Orleans actually had the highest crime rate before Hurricane Katrina. It was also seriously drug-infested - a port for smuggling drugs into the US. Hmmm...things that the media just simply ignores as it's supposedly a city so rich in "culture". Yeah, culture of criminal activity...
They never should've rebuilt it.

NOLA is full of contradictions. They want to rebuild but no one wants to work. They want tourists to return but no one protects tourists; everyone is on the take. Also, their hotels rates are as high if not higher than any other American city, often 50% or more.
