As i was abused as a child i can tell you it stays with you for ever but at some point in your life you really need to speak to a counsellor. I did a couple of years ago and only then did I stop blaming myself for what happened to me throughout my childhood. It prevented me from letting people get close to me, I missed out on the normal growing up and socialising with friends, not that I really had any. There is so much more to this than you realise.

Obviously affects them mentally and scars their poor little minds for the rest of their lives which is why there should be severe penalties for people that commit this type of offence. Castration springs to mind along with severe beating, knee capping, acid, the list goes on.

I'm in the same situation as Barney B and it does stay with you. You only learn to accept it after seeing therapists.
