It rarely snows in D/FW, and when it does it us slight...never more than a couple of inches and that usually melts off by noon the following day.

The only thing I remember from college geography class was that all snow in Texas comes from the South. There is no body of water to the north close and large enough to produce sufficient moisture. The moisture has to come from the Gulf which is generally warm. On rare occasions Gulf moisture will collide with a cold front from the North, but not very often. When that happens, everyone takes a snow day from school or work. We stay home and make soup.

Occasionally it snows in Texas. It usually does not stay on the ground very long. But it interferes with things a lot when it does. We don't have salt trucks and snowplows since it virtually never snows. (It snows on average less than once a year in Austin and I expect Dallas is about the same. We do get freezing rain a couple of times a winter.) Result? If it snows or sleets just a little, everything grinds to a halt.

Yes It snows in Dallas but not a real heavy snowfall and only snow once every 5 years real bad, For the most part snow in the south TX is not handle good most people just stay home from work or school and look and play in the snow.

Yes, once in a great while it will snow in Dallas. It only snows a small amount, but with the number of traffic accidents and the way everyone drives, you'd think it was some sort of terrible storm with several feet of snow. They will even close the schools there.

Not often, but sometimes. If you're visiting when it snows (or ices) it's a good idea to stay off the roads. Even if _you_ know how to drive safely on the snow, that guy next to you in a big 4 wheel drive pickup doesn't. I remember living in Texas and going to stand on the freeway overpass to watch everyone sliding all over the place.

Even though it can get cold enough to snow in Dallas, it usually never happens too often. I think the city only gets 1 inch a year.

Hi there, I grew up in the DFW area for all of my life (just recently relocated to Atlanta) and yes, it does snow there, but once in a rare while. It snowed there last Valentines Day...a rare treat. It mainly just ices though so be careful if you live there, you want to make sure you always have an ice pick and good boots in your car.

Amarillo, Lubbock, and Wichita Falls get the most. Dallas, Fort Worth, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, and El Paso get a lot, too. Austin, Houston, and San Antonio get it, but not too terribly often.
