He stated that she had to have had "millions of dollars" in plastic surgery and had no idea why Bill married her. Are these the rantings of a moron who knows he's about to be spanked in the election, or do they have a proper place in politics?

I think in politics, all is FAIR. As politics are but a distraction to keep the majority poor from combining forces and forcing a change in the corrupt USG, then I am for any event, comment or remark that will force the democraps and repukelicans to finally ADMIT that they are just distractions, just like the pseudo-War on Terror, racism, homophobia, sexism, flag burning, health care and other tools of the PTB to further bilk and rape the citizenry.

It appears that he made these comments while sitting next to a reporter on a flight. If he knew he was "on the record" and made these comments for public distribution, then I would agree that they are pretty low and don't really belong in a campaign for US senator.

If he was just making these comments in passing, assuming that he was "off the record", then I would just pass it off as human nature. We all make low-brow comments regarding our competition or enemies. The discussions on this website as well as numerous others proves this. I'm sure that many Democrats mention W's resemblance to a chimp when they are "off the record." I'm sure that many liberals mention Anne Coulter's Adams Apple when they are "off the record." So I think it is disingenuous to expect a Republican to never mention something personal regarding an opponent. But to do so in a public manner that is disseminated widely is not tactful, nor effective.

Politics are dirty but that was just crossing the line. He's supposed to dig up factual dirt on her, not make up stuff.

I agree, it is crossing the line. Moreover, it is petty, superficial and nasty. Someone's looks have nothing to do with their political or leadership ability.
