There are many answers to this question but the simplest is an animalistic need to reproduce. There's also companionship, the need to be needed, a replacement for dear old Mom and many other theories but I believe in the first answer myself.

Pheremones (sp?), for one thing. Pheremones are hormones that put out a fragrance that attract the opposite sex. We aren't aware that we smell them, but we do.

We are also attracted to people who somehow remind us of our mothers or other women in our families who are important to us.

THird, men are socialized, for the most part, to be attracted to a certain "look" of women. In the American culture, men are socialized to be attracted to women who look like models, even thought there aren't that many. In other cultures and in past cultures, women who carried a little more weight were considered attractive. THe extra weight showed that they were from prosperous families. Prosperity is attractive to many men also....

OR, maybe men love the women because we is purty.
