You voluntary fit "P" plates to advise other drivers that you are a novice. I applaud you. A reasonably competent driver will always try to read other drivers and hopefully will give certain drivers a bit more room! When you feel confident, and you seem to have started off okay, then remove your P plates.
Just take it easy and you will make a good driver because of your obvious consideration of others.
Many years ago as a very young driver, immediately after I passed my test, I thought I knew it all. On my drive home that day, I almost crashed taking a corner much too fast. Have never forgotten!
Good luck and many years of safe driving ahead.

I show more respect to a driver making a mistake with a P plate on rather than somone without who I just assume is a bloody awful driver and shouldn't be on the road. All drivers know how nerve wracking it is when you first drive on your own after passing your test. You drive with them on an you'll know when to take them off coz you'll feel confident and won't want to let people know you've just passed your test, but as confidant driver as anyone else. Happy motoring and be safe :)

Nah, don't think so- not in the UK. You can if you want, an option if you're nervous. I've been out with a good few of my mates just after they've passed and none have had green plates.

They're not compulsory. So have them for as long as you want them. I'd say having them until you're confident would be about right. They're just there to let people know that you might do stupid things ;)

I'd keep them on for at least six months, then other drivers will give you plenty of room (to avoid being hit by you in my case!)
If you drive too slowly they'll punish you though.

I wouldn't bother with P plates to be honest, nobody is going to go any easier on you if you make a mistake with them on your car. They'll still get out and chase after you with their Crook Lock.

six months, but its not compulsory in UK.
sometimes its better not to put them on becuse drivers treat u like a learner driver not as though you have passed.

Until you feel confident enough to drive without them. There's no set time-scale

Usually a year, but I don't think they are compulsory so its up to you. When you feel you are a confident enough driver to remove them.
