I am having a party for my 12 yr old nephew, 9 & 7 yr old nieces and my 7 month old son (he's going as a pumpkin!!). Any good ideas on spooky food etc for the party, and any good games to play?

You could set jelly with candy worms and things in it, that way it can also be a disgusting colour such as green (for the adults add vodka hee hee)

You can also add milk buttons (or almond flakes if there are no allergies) to cake fingers to make them look like fingers, even dipping them in jam or strawberry sauce makes it look even more gruesome.

As for games, murder in the dark is always fun and simple (if you want to know how to play it give me a shout vickyinuk_2000@yahoo.com) the opportunities are endless...

Can I come lol?

Make cupcakes and have the kids decorate them. Mix up orange and purple frosting, and give them sprinkles and candy corn. If they want to make tomb stones, put Vanilla Finger in the cupcake.

Let them bob for apples, but only put one apple in at a time, otherwise the kids will bite all of them and you don't want to spread germs. (An alternate version of this is to hang an apple from a string from the ceiling and have the child put her/his hands behind her/his back.)

Halloween Twister would be fun, and it's available at Target.

Have the 12 year old read a story to the younger children.

Pinatas are great, but let the youngest children go first so it doesn't break open right away.

You can get some sugar cookies and give one to each kid then put out some sprinkles in different halloween colors and some different colors of icing & let them decorate their own cookies..then eat them of course!..it's 2 in one a craft and a snack i did this at the last halloween party i had & all the kids loved it & i had kids there from about 1 year to about 13 years...as for games bean bag toss games r fun just paint a peice of wood in green or orange and cut some holes in it let the kids toss bean bags or little soft balls in it & give out candies or prizes for every time they play ,even if they miss!..you could also make a craft table put out markers or crayons some kid safe scissors, maybe some string or ribbon, maybe sequins or buttons what ever u have laying around that can be used to decorate & some paper lunch bags, stuff like that ,they could make their own halloween treat bags or hand puppets or both...stuff like that will keep them busy & they wont get bored throughout the party!

Traditionally when I was growing up we had bobbing or "dooking" for apples (I grew up in Scotland) where you filled a washing up basin or bucket with water and put apples in. You had to hold your hands behind your back and fish out an apple with your mouth alone. A lot of fun, very wet - have a towel handy.
I think also toffee apples were very halloween for some reason.
You could make some jelly and put some of those jelly worm sweets in it for worm jelly.
Since it's close to fireworks night, some sparklers for them to play with outside in the garden with gloves on might be a lot of fun and great for the 7 month old to look at.

Make a chocolate cake but instead of icing it, crush up Oreo cookies to put on the top and then set gummy worms half in and half out of the cookies so they look like they are crawling out of the dirt for a Worm Cake. You can also use Tootsie Rolls and call it Cat Litter Cake.

You could makeup little Trick or Treat bags for them to take home, but don't give them out until they leave. That way they will remember the party longer.

A costume contest might be fun. Get little ribbons with like "Most Original" or "Scariest" and like "Cutest" costume ( if i were the judge cutest would so be the pumpkin!) The whole bobbing for apples thing is really unsanitary so an alternative might be to hang apples for the ceiling on a string and try to bite them while they are hanging. (I did this once and it is harder than it sounds) I hope all of this helps !

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Do Pumpkin Bowling, always a great hit at my parties. For food, do jellies and stuff, or M and S always have chicken nuggets etc. And for drink, get some red juice or something, fill two plastic gloves with water, freeze them, take the gloves off them and then leave them. Hands bobbing in water...freaky.....

You can do this one game but it can be a bit messy. I've played it once when i was little and it was fun. You put your arm into like say a box or something but its filled with gooey stuff, i reckon you can just put jelly inside. They have to reach inside and grab a prize. Or you could stick to the traditional games such as bobbing for apples and that.
