I hate it so much it's unmeasurable-the whole concept of it, the artists, they way they act so tough, the lies they tell, the way they degrade women and get paid for it. The way they brainwash stupid teenage boys and girls. How thick must somebody be to actually look up to these guys and be influenced into crimes and 'pimpin'. Pathetic.

The biggest thing that I hate about rap music is that it is just another way for big, white, corporate record labels to make millions selling black culture back to African Americans... Hey, and if they can get some white kid in the middle of Kansas to turn to his mom at the dinner table and tell her that tonight's meat loaf was dope, then that is a huge bonus. Most rappers would be in jail if not rapping, and still most of them should be in jail if police knew what they were doing. Why did the deaths of Tupac and Biggie stop all the killing? Surely there are a few more artists out there that have dissed somebody that owns a gun. I am disappointed in the rap community.

Everyone is entitled to "hate" or "dislike" a certain type of "music". If you don't like it don't listen to it. Point Blank. Who said COUNTRY music or classical is the hottest thing going on right now?-- My point exactly, it's a personal choice- and whether its mainstream or not, people are going to like it or hate it for whatever it's meaning or purpose is. Be glad it's Yahoo Answers! for you all to vent on, because trust me- if you ever were to step any rap artist and truly understand where they are coming from, then you all would have a different understanding. I don't understand the concept of "HEAD BANGIN"- but thats not for me to call it stupid or not a form of art. And about the lies you mention- I can tell you I know for a fact that is every country singer aint poor and just had thier heart broken, I can tell you that every Rocker is not a druggie and an Athesist- All I'm saying is be fair with it and don't take it too seriously.. personal choice- listen or don't listen

You are entitlied to your own opinion, however its not just rap that does those type of things. I listen to a wide range of music to soft rock, alittle country, r&b and a little rap. I've heard pretty much the same that you're describing in all types of music. Not all songs are about truth, most are made up. If teenage boys and girls are looking up to artists as a way of life, then I blame the parents, not the artist. In my opinion, your stereotyping is Pathetic!

I love HIP HOP, modern day pop rap like the **** you find in the charts are manufactured like any other pop music. Its not just the men that degrade women...the women do it to. BUT there is some fantastic rap music with some serious cultural statements about the really fucked up USA. There are rappers like KRS one, Talib Kwali that have something to say about where they grew up..i.e the riches first world country and how wrong and twisted they have treated black people. I agree most of the pop rap is all about guns bithces and Ho's....listen to The Roots, Talib Kwali...

Yeah, your right, the scene is rather childish. But as for some musicians they are quite good.

I'm not a big hip-hop fan, well I'm not even a fan, but i have got into Dizzie Rascal. He seems pretty true, i can remember doing all the stuff he did, hes never admitted to doing anything G-like, but instead helped invent a whole genre of music - grime.

Its all off-beat stuff and doesn't conform to the normal writing procedures.

But its general abuse of women (even if you're promiscuous little whore & don't deserve much respect), glamorisation of guns and crime is not respecable at all.

i hate rap too, but i dont think as much as you. i mean i hate listenting to it, the lyrics for the most part suck, are valger and rude. i hate how they dress and act too. your right they shouldnt get paid to degrade women, they should find an actaully thing to SING about not slurring rhyms that dont make sense about how ther are goignt o shot someone if they look at them the wrong way. and for God sakes where do they find these girls that are willign to wear skimpy cloth practically thong and bra in a badly made "music" video?!?! they warp young minds into thinking that its okay to cuss, smoke, drink, do drungs, have sex with anyone anytime, and plainly teaches them to be rude. ger! now im all flustered! hahaaha

I can't stand rap!... gives me a splittin' head ache and makes my ears bleed... if I had to choose between listening to rap or having my ear drums pierced with an ice pick, I'll take the ice pick and say thank you... the other thing I hate is how teenagers from predominately white upper middleclass society think it's cool to dress and talk like they came from some inner city housing project like they were on welfare or something...

I also can't stand it or see the point of it.It's not music to me,just a load of noisy rubbish which they get paid a lot of money for.
If I never heard another piecxe of rap "music" it would be too soon.
I also agree with you about the effect it has on the youngsters

I wouldn't object to it so much if they weren't degrading women. Everybody has their right to make whatever kind of music they like, but when we start to degrade each other, that can't be a good thing.
