Other than cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, what other products are on the market that, when used as directed, will ultimately lead to a premature death?

Shampoo.......the directions say rinse and repeat, but it doesn't say to stop, so eventually you'd starve to death.

Ah well there is a slight mistake in you question. You said 'used as directed'. Premature deaths cannot happen if the product is used as directed. For example on a cigarette box u will usually see sumthing like 'Excessive smoking is bad for health'. Well if u follow that precaution or use it as directed u will not have premature deaths.
Ok i know i being a little bit too much. maybe products like sleeping pills if used in excess can result to death and yes it has been proven. And drugs like weed or marijuana which many of my friends think that it is fine to smoke weed. but it actually affects the body and can result in premature deaths.

Birth control pills comes to mind (which leads to a REALLY premature death), but I suppose you're really after something to the effect of pesticides that will slowly leach into the drinking water. But that's farfetched.

Paracetamol says 'if problems persist seek medical help' so you're basically told not to use them long term I reckon.
Depends what you mean by 'on the market' I suppose, if you include the illegal market (ie drugs) then the list gets pretty long.

Most people as well as doctors believe that legal drugs are the answer for everything when they are not!

Paracetamol.
Research has shown that taking the full recommended safe dose of Paracetamol causes irreversible liver damage. [Taking it for short periods is fine]
Fatty foods = Heart Disease; Sugary Foods = Diabetes
