The date was announced by a team of European geologists after fossils from central Spain were analysed, they confirms supspicions that mammal species have an avereage lifespan of 2.5 million years and modern man has already been around for 250,00 years. ' - i read this from the bbc website, how do they know the write date, is it true?

It's absolute rubbish, it is all based on the discredited uniformitarian dating system. This millions of years system is only continued because it is necessary to keep the evolution story alive. The truth is no one knows an accurate date for any fossil. Depth of burial is certainly no reliable guide for dating as sedimentation experiments and field studies (especially those carried out since the Mount St. Helens eruption) have clearly shown.

That's a load of c.rap If they really did work out the year to the nearest 250,000 years, then they couldn't tell you the exact date. They wouldn't be able to tell you the exact year either. they would have said that the year would be somewhere in the 2,250,000 year point at best.

Look at the dinosaurs, they went extinct some 60-80 billion years ago. Not one scientist could tell you that they all died on a tuesday for example. It's not that accurate and probably never will be!

It is a speculative extrapolation from evidence, or to use the scientific term, a guess!
I think giving an exact date is, frankly, being a bit silly! There is something in what they say, but there are so many variables to consider that the the figure is largely meaningless. Once you start talking 'Average mammal species', you know you are not in the realms of exact science!

Death is the only certainty in life; from the moment of birth, we're moving towards death. I think you mean: 'Will mankind one day cease to exist?'. I think the answer is, 'Yes'. Other forms of life ceased to exist on this planet in prehistoric times, and most religions foretell of the end of the world.
