I know it's pelvic inflamitory desease, but what does that mean? I'm a little bit scared right now. Over the weekend I had to go to the er. because of pain in my lower abdomen. The doctor told me I had P.I.D. but offered no explination. Thanks for your help.

PID is a STD, that can be transmitted not only via sex but also by using wet towels, or too tight clothing.

So now you need to notify your partner so that he can be treated cause he can give it to you again.

PIDS can also cause you not to be able to have children if left untreated....

check this site out it is the center for disease control's web site. it tells what it is, who you get it, and what they do for it and even ways to get more information than they have their. also call back the doctor and ask them. they should have told you more about it and what they were going to do for you.

the joking description is "pus in dere." You have an infection in your abdomen, arising from the female structures, usually a sex related thing.
