A few years ago I was sort of disapointed that I didn't need glasses...I thought they'd make me look smarter on job interviews. So I was wondering what your perception is.

I'm an employer. i could not care less about appearance as long as you are clean and don't stink. i look for abilities and confidence more than i look at the person i am interviewing. one of my techs has so many piercings on his face he looks like he fell on a tackle box but his knowledge and ability to do the the job is second to none including myself. if i would have overlooked him because of his appearance my business would not be doing as well. yes he does deal with the public and after the initial shock that customers have they figure out that he knows what he is doing and trust him.
i realize that not all potential employers have the same criteria but they should learn NOT to judge a book by it's cover.
best of luck.

I am an employer and I dont think it makes a difference, it is how you portray yourself at the interview that makes you get the position, I wear contact lenses and hate wearing glasses but if I interviewed someone with glasses I wouldnt care as long as they could do the job.

I AM not an employer, but employers shouldn't discriminate because you HAVE to wear glasses. How are you going to see if you're not comfortable wearing contact lenses? This is a bunch of B*S. They should only hire the "right candidate" depending on their qualifications. Not because candiate A wears glasses while candidate B don't. They won't choose candidate A because of the candidate wears glasses. It ALL depends on how you "sell" yourself to the employer. Lots of luck to you if you think this way.

Definitely not as you are applying for job where in you feel you can fit in and the employer has posted this vacancy as he/she/company requires the job to be done. Employer will certainly look for the competency of the person to a large extent and not what he/she wears ( glasses).

Wearing glasses just means that the person has a vision problem.

If you put some scotchtape around the middle of the nose-piece, yep, that'll really make you look smarter! ;)

Sometimes...glasses can make someone unattractive and people don't really want unattractive people representing their business.
