ouch..
tough one... i would hate to be in your shoes.
your best bet is to keep quiet.
you were told by your superior not to say anything, so thats what you must and should do.
your supervisor, if he or she is professional, will not say anything about you knowing of the people being let go.
unfortunately in todays dog eat dog world, you must look out for yourself, and in this case, saying something could cost you your job, so your best bet(if you want to keep your job) is to pretend like you know nothing

If your supervisor told you to keep quiet you should keep quiet. If you tell them, you can have problems later. The question here though, why would your supervisor tell you about that? That sounds like your supervisor is not very reliable.

Sometimes in life we have to make decision's that we really do not want to. If you are in a position at work that requires you to keep the information to yourself then that is just what you should do. One of the hardest things I had to do in my life was that I was working at a court house for attorneys and I had to prepare the cases for them and talk to people that were involved and I could not tell anyone what was said not my friends or family or anyone or I would have lost my job. And, once my best friends son was named in a robbery and I had to talk to everyone about it and I was pretty sure he was one of the people that did it. Not only was she my best friend but I held a part time job also at that time in my life and she worked side by side with me on a daily basis and I could not tell her. It is very hard making decisions like that but know that the right thing is not to say anything. Good luck with your decision and hopefully you will take my advice.

Keep quiet. Your supervisor may be testing you to determine whether or not to put you on the next list.

If your supervisor told you then he/she must trust you, so don't say anything. However, this really doesn't say much for your super if they know you're friends with some who are to be let go. This puts you right in the middle.

this depends if your friends give rats *** about the job...if they don't then you can tell them so they get a head start on looking for another job...
If they like this job and you think they wont be able to get another job then you should tell them so they can prepare for the worst...
eventually this will come down to how much notice the company gonna give to you friends and how fast they can get a job and their ability to keep quiet and npt tell others...

Best to keep quiet, unless you want to be fired also.
