I drive a Saturn SL2 and my car idles at 900-1100 rpm, I don't know what the other people are talking about this is nornal, and my gas consumption is very low I get 30MPG in the city and nearly 35 on freeway. Since I bought it over 2 years ago no problems with car or anything and always near 1100rpms. Four cylinders just operate that fast. if you are concerned have it checked out, but I doubt anything is wrong. In regards to 1 rpm, if you look at the gauge toward the bottom it should say something like X 1000 somewhere, meaning multiply the location of the needle by this number to get actual rpms. Hope this helps.

Do you mean 1000 rpm? No, it should idle around 700 rpm according to what kind of car you have and what system.

its not idling at 1 rpm. 1000 maybe, or 100 even.

When was your last tune up? It depends on the car. It should be idiling around 600 rpm. When it idles high it uses more gas. Get it checked.

1000 rmp I assume.
Try to provide as much info needed to get you a decent answer.
What is the year, make and model? Auto? Manual?
Has it started this recently? Does the idle change once the car warms up?
Have you done anything to the car recently, such as clean the throttle body?

I believe it is actually revving at 1000rpm. On the Rev counter it will show as 1, 2 etc, that is normal. You do not need to know whether or not it is revving at 1237 rpm!! 1000rpm at tick over is perfectly normal. :-)
