my son will turn four in December. So, my children will be about 4 and half years apart. Anyone else have a space like this between children and are they close? I have two sisters and there is about 10 years between us and I always wanted my children to grow up close as we really didn't because of the age gaps. Thanks so much! Just Curious;)

Yes, my daughter is 4(5 in May), and I am 6 months pregnant with my second baby. I'm not worried about it. My brother and I are 12 years apart and we are very close, and we have always been close. My parents both come from HUGE families(some of them are 20 years older than the youngest) and are very close to their siblings. On the other hand, my husband and his sister are two years apart and they can't be in the same room together without ripping into each other, even though they are now both adults. I wouldn't worry about the gap.

Perfect!!!!!! My oldest son is 6 and my baby is 15 months, they are 5 years apart (5 years and 3 months to be excat) and I wouldn't have it ANY other way! Lance my oldest is such a big help and he is right at that age where they are so loving towards everything! He LOVES his baby brother and plays with him, he can even changes diapers supervised of course. Lance loves helping with everything! BE SURE YOU INCLUDE your 4 yr old in everything pregnancy, take him with you to the Ultrasounds, and appointments to hear the heartbeat. Call the baby his baby too. The more involved they are in the pregnancy, they are not as jealous when the baby is born. Buy him a big brother gift from the baby when he comes to see you and the baby at the hospital. They key in this is just keeping him involved and he will feel soo close to the baby! ANother thing my son did was sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star everynight to my belly and when Chase was born that was a special bond they shared cause Chase actually remembered Lance singing that to him! Email me with anyother questions, I could write a novel on this! LOL medicalmama82@yahoo.com

I have a 4 month old and a 4 year old! It is wonderful. i am so glad that i waited. My 4 year old was very spoiled, so i figured it would be a big problem. But after the first week, she realized that the baby was here to stay, and she adores her baby sister, and is always looking out for her. She is very picky about who can hold her, and doesn't want her to ever be left alone. the best tip i ever got was to involve my 4 year old in everything, feedings, bath every way you possibly can. it has helped so much,a nd she helps me alot with the baby. And the 4 month old adores her big sister. She coos and laughes at her everytime she walks in the room! it's wonderful! You will enjoy it! And i am very close to my sisters!

I'm sure they will be closer than having 10 years between them, but not as close as if they grew up with a couple years apart. I mean, they'll rarely be in the same school together and the older one will have very different interests than the younger, especially if it's a girl.

Yes. I had mine 4 years apart, but they are really close!! My little one is gonna be one in 9 days(yeah!!) and he loves his older brother so much!! They play together and have fun. I think that's a good age difference, this way the older one doesn't get jealous of the younger one. My oldest one turned 4 in June and I had my other one 5 months later. Congratulations and GOD bless!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that is still a reasonable age difference. My oldest was 3 when my youngest were born. (My middle child turned 2, 2 days later) He did quite well with the twins. He helped me out by getting me diapers and such when I needed them. Yours should be able to help out with a few different things and I don't see why they shouldn't be close :)
