If your brother accomplished that feat, I'd say to him that he should close his eyes next time. When you sneeze, you're spewing forth a lot of pressure in your face. With eyes open, his eyes could pop out.
He could burst capillaries around his eyes and do other damage. Eyes closing is the natural reaction.

Sinus pressure is greatly increased by the expellation of air through the nose and mouth during a sneeze. A sneeze is the body's way of removing some irritant from the nasal passages/sinuses by the means of that forceful expellation. When you sneeze the sinuses, including those near the eyes are subjected to this pressure from the forcefull blast, causing some pain or discomfort in those sinuses. Keeping the eyes closed may lessen the felt effect of the sneeze due to the fact that closing the eyes tightens muscles in the face, helping contain the force of the sneeze lower in the sinuses. Your brother likely had a sinus infection at the time, which made the pain noticably worse than it might normally have been.

same reason it would hurt if you were holding your arm still and someon jerked it down.
you muscles are trying to go one way real quick, and he forced them to stay open,
I imagine it pulled his muscles
and your face is very sensitive, so even a small muscle strain would hurt.
