I know we all moan about the kids of today, but are they really worse today than at any time during history?

No, not neccesarily more badly behaved, but definitely less afraid. Most children were afraid of their parents in the past, with the introduction of new parenting styles over the past 20 years, children are less afraid and much more open with their feelings and expressing themselves...any way they please. There were gangs then, fights then, crazy kids then, but as long as they were seen and not heard...they were assumed to be well behaved. (Not in all cases though) There is also less constant supervision. In many households today, both parents are outside the home for long periods of time. And idle hands are the devils playground. More free time means more time to get into something. Hope this helps.

:)

Most definately. I was terrified of teachers at school - today the kids have "Their human rights" Didn't ever hear that when I was a kid. No respect for people or property. Not all kids are bad but sometimes if you see the parents then you just know who they are getting it from. I wasn't even allowed to play outside on a Sunday as it wasn't polite for children to be out making a noise on a day of rest and a family day!!!!!

I have no idea if there is proof about their behaviour, but there is a lot more rudeness and bad manners with kids these days, screaming in shops for not getting their own way with some expensive toy or sweets they want, I have seen kids kick and hit their parents just because they have said no to them, but in the same respect I feel sorry for them too, they don't play out like and get rid of their energy like I did when I was a kid, its just not safe for them to be out on their own these days, they don't even do physical education in school like we did either, they need to get rid of their energy somehow and unfortunately for a hell of a lot of them it just isn't happening, I was so scared of my mom I wouldn't have dared misbehave, that was then and I guess things are just so different today.

There is good historical evidence from any and every epoch that ever kept written records that they all moaned about the decline of morality and the bad behaviour of children (and slaves, and women, and 'common people').

In a world where the adults bomb each other and are complicit in the starvation of half of their fellow inhabitants of the globe, I think we needn't worry about the behaviour of the children so much!

Can you remember any other time in history when you could find 14 year old girls selling machine guns in the UK?

I think not.

If you take a walk around many train and bus stations in London the gangs of 13-16 year olds getting drunk and abusive are quite intimidating and becoming increasingly more violent year after year. Go and see for yourself....

yes because they are not allowed to be smacked i.e disciplined so they behave worse than when smacking was allowed.these hoodie wearing thugs that are going around if we did anything like that we'd get a good hiding but the nambie pambie state of today tells us we should not do this so they cause trouble wherever they go knowing they cannot be smacked by their parents.

just take a look at the kids hanging round the streets, the way they talk to each other and the elderly. i think its outrageous they get away with half the stuff they do. there is no deterent for them cos they no that unless they are 16 they will get away with most things. bring back national service, teach them some manners and respect.
