Actually, those films represent teenage girls rather well. Much better than horror films, for example. Bend it like beckham has young girls making decisions and navigating the fine line between cultural and family constraints and societal and personal desires for freedom and choice. Clueless, as a remake of Emma made it interesting and accessible to an entirely new audience of girls and women. I applaud any attempt to make a classic work more accessible.

Not a fair question. Bend it like Beckam deals with views on women from another culture and as for Clueless, well, not every teenage girl in America har a rich lawyer father and lives in Hollywood, do they? We're not all Indian and as privilaged as Cher.

Bend it like Bekham represents girls as typical bimbos that are only useful in the kitchen, although the storyline says that you should just follow your dream, whatever that may be and to do what you feel is right, not what other people are telling you.i think that this delivers a very strong message that everyone deserves a chance in life, whatever and whoever they are. ♥

Movies in general take the stereotypes and beat them to death! I am sure there are SOME girls out there who are completely like the girls in both movies, but to say that all girls are is generalizing at it's worst.

As dumb, inept and surppressed. Girls who have $ and can find nothing better to do than go shopping and gossip. Even though the endings turn out alright....who would even want to be portrayed as selfish and stupid??
