In protest to the Vietnam War, student activists were killed by national guardsman in Ohio. As a historian of the VN war, and teenage combat of another unpopular war, I am seeing a repeat of the same mistakes made during that era in the Iraq conflict. Is the majority of the US public going to stand-by and watch these tragic occurences happen again? Are we going to allow Republican zealots driven by inflated ego's and personal agenda's to destroy this country? (often, they hide behind the Christian religion only seeking personal wealth) Like VN, US involvement in Iraq and Pakistan is a mistake and soon another embarrasment. How many more LIES from the Bush administration will be believed before the largely Republican, Christian, ignorant, and Redneck American public realize the truth! How much more Bush "cannon fodder", women and children must die? Would Bush send his daughters to Iraq?

We need to avoid another Kent State!

Stop the War!

Impeach Bush NOW!

No, this time it will be MUCH worse. They've prepared for this one. We are now LEGALLY one Presidential finger-snap away from a police state. Think of how many years they've been building military and law enforcement loyalty to their party (versus the American people).

While America was pitted against itself arguing about immigrants, Bush pushed through the Military Commissions Act of 2006, which allows Bush to condemn any American citizen as an "enemy combatant", put him in military custody, deny him a trial or access to a lawyer, and hold him indefinitely. This denial of habeas corpus all but eliminates 9 of our 10 rights on our Bill of Rights.

If things get real bad, EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency (FEMA) to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any UNDEFINED national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months. Basically, a totalitarian government.

No, it's not Kent State at all. It's something much more lethal and insideous.

How can you be a historian when you know absolutely nothing about history? Your description of what occurred at Kent State is disengenuous as best and moronic at worst. Here's a few facts for you to chew on.

The average age of the National Guardsmen was 19 years. They had no civil insurrection training and very little training of any other sort.

The leaders of the anti-war protest urged the cattle they were leading into direct confrontation with these kids and continually goaded a fight. They forced the issue and the result was that some of them got shot. THEY FORCED THESE UNTRAINED KIDS INTO A FIGHT AND THEM BLAMED THEM FOR WHAT HAPPENED. THE LEADERS OF THAT STINKING PROTEST SHOULD HAVE BEEN JAILED FOR CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT MURDER. If there were any zealots, they were the organizers of the protest, and your babblings are not going to change those facts. Impeach your own self for being a left slanted propagandist and leave our President alone so he can repair the damage you lefties are doing to the nation.
