Come on!!!! It was on his hands in the other post season games too! He did pitch a great game, but the point is that he should not even had a chance to! Take him out like the rule says, and maybe it is a totally new ballgame!

Pine Tar: The Gambler's Ace up His Sleeve

Gambler doctors the Cards

Gambler knows how to hold em with Pine Tar

For the record:

1) Obviously he put something on there. Then he lied about it, giving different stories several different ways.

2) The rules are unequivocal here. The reason he gets away with it is he's a veteran and La Russa doesn't want to start sh*t because odds are all the pitchers use something to help out in cold weather.

3) This whole situation is a disgrace. It makes NO DIFFERENCE that he went on to pitch 7 good innings. The Cards could've scored 6 runs in the first if it had not been for the incident. Probably not, but could have.

That argument (from Tigers fans mainly) is basically the same as it is OK for a guy to play with a corked bat if later he hits a home run with a regular bat. Obvious BS.

4) I'm going to scream the next person that calls it "dirt." No way a major league pitcher suddenly starts in the playoffs with a huge brown smudge on his hands, in three consecutive games, and doesn't know it. If he needs a better grip, use the rosin bag. He was loading up the ball and everyone who's not biased for Detroit knows it.

5) Cards didn't pursue it, so I say let's drop it. Bet your butt however, if they tigers found cork in Pujols bat they'd move on it.

6) Here's the other stupid argument: "It was so obvious he couldn't have been cheating." OK, so let's go out there with a nail file in the glove and let it dangle, and say I must've forget it when doing my nails. And then when pressed, say "Hey why would I be so stupid."

Whether he INTENDED TO OR NOT, the rules say no foreign substance. Intention is not an issue.

Dude, it was pine tar on his hand. Besides, baseball rules state there can be no foreign substance on the pitchers hands. Look at the rules. Kicked out of the game and ten game supension. The umps and/or Tony LaRussa ****** this up and let ole Kenny get away with one. Watch the replays people. He's had the same stuff in the same spot all thru the playoffs. Bet he wont next game he pitches. Plus, no one could get their stories straight after the game..

You are pretty darned naive if you actually believe that Kenny Rogers (or the Tigers) would have been THAT stupid to use pine tar in a game of that magnitude. It could have been any number of legal substances or even dirt. if there was actually anything there at all. The media ran away with that little idea and didn't let it drop. It is supposed to make it more entertaining.

And also, why not make a nice sign promoting your own team instead of being a bad sport and calling the other team names. How old ARE you anyway? Or are you a politicain running for office. They're good at that, too.

i imagine it replaced into pinetar which might want to no longer be unlawful because it replaced right into a chilly nighttime with the leather it turns into moist which makes it demanding to grip the ball....this may probable bring about wild pitches or the ball getting away variety the catcgher circuitously....the pine tar on the hand supplies him the grip it truly is necesary to throw some sorts of pitches it is prohibited yet shouldnt be......

There was no cheating, why can't you people get this? If it was pinetar, he would have been thrown out of the game. If I'm sitting behind you and can't see because of your sign, I will let you know about it.

How about this one......................that is, if you are speaking of the substance that was shown on his hand!

If you knew anything about baseball, you would know what was on his hand, and that it was not cheating !

Also, do you even have tickets to the game? Doubt it! But I DO !! See you there.
