Before anyone says that it's Simon Cowell, I think that only a relatively small proportion of his income comes from TV/radio appearances.

I don't even think he needs to convince them into appearing on his show. It all boils down to the fact that they are usually in the UK anyway with the aim of promoting their current movie. To ensure that they reach a wide audience in the UK it only makes perfect sense that they go on a talk show like Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. 1: Because he is one of the highest watched (let alone paid) talk show hosts. 2: He is just about the only TV presenter that also has a TV show that is totally devoted to films and his personally recommended must see new film releases. So basically it's to both the movie stars and Jonathan's advantage for them to appear on his talk show. It's all about PR.

You see, the value of Jonathan Woss is iwellivent... Even if he deserved it (somehow), the BBC should not be funding it with money I would never wish them to spend on it.. They bleed us dry for a service most people (like me) will never use - I have not watched TV for 4 months and BBC for about 4 years but still have to pay for it..

But what really gets me is this Richard Hammond who nobody except petrol heads had heard of.. Gets in to a crash and nearly dies so rather than have all the bad publicity they give him a £2 million deal, even though he is not in a position to work and also might never have his full faculty back.. Now that's dispicable giving my taxed (license fee - stealth tax) money as a charitable gift!!! Jonathon Ross and Terry Wogan should go to commercial stations (as the name suggests they have to be responsible) where as the BBC is absolutely irresponsible..

I think he deserves his money after all he is consistent, true to himself and his guests, gets the information out of them where others fear to tred. He loves what he does and it shows also he does work very hard he does not just do his show he does film 2006, his japan programme which is very good he speaks fluent Japanese. He has his radio 2 show and has made radio 2 more lively and dragged it in to this century.
He works a lot harder than most so I think he deserves his cash.

I would pay Jonathan Ross NOT to appear on TV, he is so rude to the people on his chat show, is not funny, and irritates the hell out of me but the BBC love him for some reason!

I hate jonathon ross he asks his guests questions then doesnt give them a chance to answer properly he rudely butts in and normally goes on to talk about himself, the only good thing about jonathon ross is he does actually get some good guests on there and they are quite funny

No hes rubbish and but isn't that par for the course these days? You don't have to have any talent to appear on TV just a desperate wish to be rich and famous!

Why not? He is a good interviewer, he's very funny and he seems like a nice bloke...good luck to him. There are loads of celebs who get paid a bucket load and have no talent whatsoever.

I think he deserves a decent salary however I think the amount of money they spent on keeping him is wrong. I do love his friday night show however I find myself laughing a lot more with the Charlotte Church show, I find her to be very funny and down to earth. I bet she doesn't get paid anywhere near as much as Jonathon.
