I am truly sorry for your loss or that of the other person if that is the case.I lost my first true love when I was 48.we had been together only a year but it was the best year of my life. I honestly didn't think I wanted to date for the first year and so I didn't. I did meet someone that I fell in love with. This was not the case for that person. But I think that at least it showed me that I was still capable of loving someone else.It is up to you when you start to socialize again. Right now it is easier for me not to date as I can not stop wishing that the other person were like my bob was. Just don't rush and realize that most of the time if you aren't looking you will find the person that deserves to be in your life. good luck and remember the person you lost would only want you to be happy.

I'm sorry to say that there is not set time limit for this sort of thing. My aunt tried dating again soon after my uncle passed away, but found that she wasn't ready. He passes two years ago this November, and I believe she's just now started to get back in the dating scene. My answer is, you can start dating again whenever you feel that the time is right.
