A girl named Kit, born to a life of freedom, privilege and plenty in beautiful Jamaica, is forced to go to her Aunt's house in Massachusetts, where she finds hard work, suspicion, and strict religious behaviorisms are the way of life. Feeling stifled, she begins to visit an old woman who lives isolated from the others in a field, and gets to know her and the son of the ship captain who brought Kit over, who visits frequently. Soon, witch hunting begins in the small town, and Kit and her new friends are suspect.

This is an excellent story, as you see the reasoning behind both points of view. You have to read it to really appreciate it. It's frightening, haunting, and beautiful all at once. Highly recommended.

I know it's an award winning book about the witch histeria of the 1600's (silly Quakers). It has to do with a teen girl who is uprooted from her normal life and thrown in to the New England states and is accused of being a witch due to some sickness in the town she lives in. I've seen schools use this book as one of their English class reading projects sometimes.

I read it so long ago I can't even remember what it was about really. But I remember I did like it, I read it when I was 9 though and I still have it somewhere with all my books. Have you checked it out on Barnes and Nobles for their review on it?

It is a really good read, now remembering about it I'll probably re-read it.
