Is the pope a catholic..
He was as gay as a gay man living in gay town and 19 pink towers, and unfortunatly he died of aids after a long battle he was still singing right up to his final days and the most poinant single to come of the last album THE SHOW MUST GO ON tells his story.
He is a huge loss to the music industry and a huge loss to all Queen fans.

Although he had a very close girlfriend named Mary Austin for many years, Freddie Mercury had always been fairly open about his homosexual tendencies. In a March 12, 1974 interview for New Musical Express, he told the interviewer: 'I am as gay as a daffodil, my dear!'[17] Beginning in the late 1970s, Mercury began a series of affairs with men, which ultimately resulted in the end of his relationship with Austin. [18] However, the two remained close friends through the years, and Mercury often referred to Austin as his only true friend. [19] In a 1985 interview, Mercury said of Austin, "All my lovers asked me why they couldn't replace Mary (Austin), but it's simply impossible. The only friend I've got is Mary, and I don't want anybody else. To me, she was my common-law wife. To me, it was a marriage. We believe in each other, that's enough for me. I couldn't fall in love with a man the same way as I have with Mary."[20]
In 1983, Mercury found a new lover named Jim Hutton. Hutton lived with Mercury for the last six years of his life, cared for him when he was ill, and was present with him at his bedside when he died.[21] According to Hutton, Mercury referred to him as his husband, and died wearing a wedding band that Hutton had given him.[22

Are you taking the piss? Surely there can be nobody alive who doesn't know this... Yes, poor genius gorgeous Freddie was gay, and he died of pneumonia, a side-effect of HIV/AIDS, in 1991, one day after admitting to the world that he was gay, and had AIDS. I loved him and his music and can't think about his early death without getting upset about how much of a loss he was to music.

Yes he was gay, and he died of AIDS related illness. If you are a fan of Queen, check out the bonus footage on the Live at Wembley Stadium DVD. It is the second to last concert he performed and they talk about what he was going through at the time in dealing with his illness.

Is the pope catholic? Yes, of course he was gay - although he was very private and modest about his private life during his life. During the seventies the press was less tolerant and accepting than now. He died of AIDS. Great, talented singer, songwriter and peformer.
