It gets scarier as nukes spread to other countries. Most of the nations that currently have them understand that utter destruction of the earth could follow if they use them, and that even a single detonation has serious environmental effects on the whole world.

It's scary because it sometimes takes nations a while to realize this. When Pakistan and India got nukes, one of the country's generals (can't remember which) had to be specifically ordered to never use nukes without approval from the political leadership. The countries that build them have to understand that they don't have a bigger bomb to drop on someone--the reasons to build nukes are political and complex.

It could be getting to that point. It is sad too, from what the world has learned from the 2 Nukes USA dropped on Japan. We would think ALL Nations would abandon this approach to war. But, as the saying goes; "History repeats itself". Shows the intellects of ALL world leaders.
