did anyone notice that ever since the creation of the department of education(1979-80), the level of education in America has decreased? when has the education level ever gotten better? do you know who wants to completely get rid of all private education and give total responsibility to the department of education? Jesse Jackson's son, Jesse Jackson, Jr. (Democrat). He probably wants to do it to rewrite all American history books to demonize whites and make gods out blacks, while dumbing down everyone. can we expect a fair, accurate, and unbiased education from the government, considering the fact that America's education has been on a steady decline ever since the creation on the department of education? Liberal dependence on government, Folks.

There are issues with education in this country, true. However, the blame doesn't lie solely with any one group. One problem is that our kids have been experimented with too much- jeez, guys, just stop with the New Math and the seating charts and stuff. Another problem is that it's just not funded well enough. Actually, I'd consider that the majority of the problem. I've been in elementary schools where they run out of pencils by January, and where they constantly cut important programs like art or gifted/remedial classes because they just don't have the time or the money. No Child Left Behind is an example of this- it's underfunded, a lot, and it's forcing schools to teach to the tests, instead of teaching to the, you know, students.

We've had public education in this country for a lot longer than 1979, you know, and it's been a major plus in general. Oh, or do you mean you don't want to educate anyone who can't afford a private school or home schooling? How is that fair, accurate, or unbiased?

If I were in charge I would eliminate the Departments of Education, Agriculture, housing, energy and urban development. The lives of Americans would not change one bit except for a little less red tape and a lot less government expense.

This was not the creation of the Department of Education, it was the separation of education from health and welfare HEW

Second point- it is conservatives that want government CONTROL of everything, not liberals. Conservative talk about not wanting big government is a hoax
