I have been called both a Liberal Democrat and a Conservative Republican by people on and off this website. To be honest I don’t consider myself either. I vote for the individual instead of the party. I agree with many things the Republicans have to say, but I think that Democrats also have a lot of good ideas. I think that debate and disagreement is a natural part of politics, however some people profess hatred for someone that does not have a similar view. I don't believe the majority of Liberal Democrats are lazy people living off of the system and I don't believe most Conservative Republicans are greedy elitists. Let me know if you agree/disagree.

The squeakiest wheels in this country are the Christian right and the far left. Most Americans fall into the middle, but the media and the extremists are so loud we can't hear them speak. The polarization divides our country rather than uniting it. What we need is equal tension between the two of them so that they are forced to work out the problems by consensus rather than dramatic conflict.

Hate, as such, is nothing more than ignorance and arrogance. Difficult to have one withour the other. You are apparently thinking whereas those with the propensity for name-calling and overtly professed hate are not. Allow them their names. They are incapable of debate and perhaps reasoning.

The American mentality is strange; a mentality that impeached a President for lying about hanky-panky yet tolerates a President that went to war on lies with thousands dead. In both cases, there were alternatives. In the first, keep quiet. In the second, not enough and appropriate questions. Query the ignorant. You will get a blank stare or a possible verbal tantrum. Then you know that your search- if true- and decisions are healthy and valid even if at times erroneous, right?

We hear"Nazi" this or that. Reflect: if Nazis invaded Poland, Republicans invaded Iraq. And therefore, Republicans are answerable for 50,000+ Iraqi
civilian deaths and coming up on 3,000 soldierly cadavers.

I agree with you that the majority of those in both parties are not nearly as extreme as some of the posts on this site make it seem. People say things to each other here that they would NEVER say face to face. Anyone who automatically hates the opposing party is doing so by absolute choice because there is no way it is possible to disagree with EVERYTHING either party stands for -it is a forced hatred.

I totally agree!!! I vote for the individual, not the party, and base my decisions on the person, their experience, their views on important issues, and things like that. Not on a "party line."

I think that people generalize too much here, and that is sloppy thinking. Most people are good, and have the best intentions, and for someone to hate someone else because of their party affiliation or values is warped.

I want everyone to exercise their right to vote, and regardless of whether I agree with them, everyone has the right to their own opinions.

I agree completely. I have been called a liberal but that is not what I am. I think good ideas can be found on both sides on the aisle.

you are right but it does not help any. too few are like you.
look at the results of the system we have today. it is more effective to group up and use numbers to force others to do your bidding. that is what the republicans have done. they set aside their own personal conscieneces and brains to follow the leader
sadly, this seems to work for them and we all suffer.

Ignorance breeds hostility and when someone's views are challenged, especially if they're wrong, they rely on name calling and slander. Personally, I don't hate them but the frustration for their stupidity is overtaking my need to be respectful. If that's all they'll use, why don't follow? Seems to work for them.

The left/right paradigm is a controlling mechanism to get people squabbling about issues of little or no significance. And people are mostly stupid

Hope this answers your question.

The "hate" comes from libs 90% of the time. You don't usually hear conservatives claiming to "hate" Kennedy, Pelosi, or Clinton.

I don't hate anyone because of their political view. Sometimes I just hate the questions. Sometimes the questions I see on here are really stupid.
