It is a bunch of bull that races use to their own advantage and most that use it have chips on their shoulders to bear. I see ethnic sayings as a tool to say to the world, " I am not from this country, I am a blah blah as my great great grandfather was from there...BS, you are a citizen of the country you live in and should be damned proud of it and forget all your ethnic background. Besides, most who yap off about ethnic backgrounds have never even been to the country of their ancestors or even know how to SPELL it or point it out on a map either. You are HUMAN, not a blah blah from wherever, but maintain the citizenship of the one place you live yet cry the blues about where your ancestors were from. I am from another country, but I do not go around praising my background, but I am proud to say I am a citizen of where I am now although I am proud of where I was a child too. I am now from where I live and will never forget it and also will not force my background into others faces as an ETHNIC show. All so called ETHNIC problems will go away if people just stop and realize where they are now..

Ethnicity is a social construction that indicates identification with a particular group which is often descended from common ancestors. Members of the group share common cultural traits (such as language, religion, and dress) and are an identifiable minority within the larger nation-state. In Latin America, it often refers to Indians and Africans, although perhaps everyone has some type of ethnic identity.
A sense of being different than other groups because of cultural tradition, ancestry, national origin, history, or religion.

Generally ethnicity refers to the place from which one's ancestors came rather than to one's race. For example, two Caucasian people (the same race) could be Italian and British (two different ethnicities). Different black people could be from Kenya, Jamaica, or the United States.

The counties of your ancestry. Such as if your dad's parents are from Scotland, and your mom's from Italy. That would likely make you Italian and Scottish, but their parents could be from somewhere else, too. That makes up your ethnicity.
