You should be able to do a foundation or access course, which is usually one extra year, studied before the normal first year. This would bring you up from your current qualifications to the required level for the degree, and is organised and applied for through the university you're interested in. Some universities teach the course at the university campus, others will allow you to learn it at an affiliated further education college. The thing to do is to find some universities and courses that you're interested in and call them up and discuss it. They're always really happy to hear from people who have different backgrounds and usually help out as much as they can, as it's often these people who show most dedication to the course and do the best at the end of the day. Good luck!!!

Not all universities ask for formal qualifications, the fact that you are a mature student would give you an advantage. However I'm also a mature student and I did an access course in which you did two a-level and 4 GCSE equivalents and this prepared me well for my time at uni. Good Luck

Hi Tricky,

You have two options here.

Do A-levels or you can do an Access to Higher Education course.

This can be taken at your local FE College or at a university. If you are going to your local uni for your degree, then do your access course there. It gets your foot in the door and you will know the uni before you start there, a big advantage.

Good luck in what ever you decide to do.

Depends on you age how much A levels matter. If you are over 21, apply as a mature student and former qualifications are immaterial.

Speak with Learn Direct. They are really helpful with all this type of stuff.
