I enjoy the extra time when my ex is late, as much as two hours but I ask her if I can have extra time with the kids and she always says no. I don't want to argue over it but how can I work this out without expensive lawyers?

Try telling her that when she is supposed to pick them up at say 1700hrs, it means precisely that as you have an important appointment. When she says you are not being fair, point out to her that when you ask for anything she always responds in the negative - at least you will have a starting point.

Explain that it works both ways and that you are tired of scratching her back when she feels like it and getting nothing in return.

I realise that you love your children and it is this she is using to good effect. Time to get "hard" (if your children are of an age you might think of explaining to them what you are doing and it is nothing they have done wrong) and show her you are not a butler to be summoned as and when she requires.

On a different note, from your question it would appear your parting of the ways was less than amicable to elicit this sort of behaviour, and it usually takes two to cause a divorce. I am sure that reasoned discussion properly conducted could produce a result both you, your ex and the children could live with.

Go to court and file a motion, that she is always late picking up children (2 HOURS), unreal.....Then you will probably go to mediation to work it out there. If she does'nt want to do you a favor then stop the 2hours cut off. That's only fair. Good luck!!!!
