To add to the first few excellent answers: With a Core Duo processor, one core is dedicated to running your 'background' programs and startup programs, while the other core is dedicated to any program(s) you open up to use. Makes life so much easier and faster. good luck :-)

First off. Unless you are doing BIG TIME gaming or doing Multi Task programs... like video recording and editing or Video recording and play back or any server like activitys. You dont need a core duo or a dual core prossessor. All they do is give muti tasking users an extra boost. Windows is design to use one core/prossessor for every action or group. As in other words. If all you do is Microsoft word.... then Internet explorer... or play a game, even with the duo you will one be using 1 core. So unless you are running multiple applications to the point that the computer doen't want to run any more, then don't bother. Save money, get the solo and up the RAM. Also, I would wait until January/Febuary... Windows Vista, the next big operating system, will be coming out!

The Duo is better because it has 2 cores which allows the processor to do more things at once.

a processor in a computer is pretty much how much a computer can think about at one time. a single processor could probably think of a lot of things but a duo core process er is just simple as the saying great minds think alike.

Core Duo is better as it has 2 cores (not processors) as compared to single core.

It's simple, the solo is a single core proccessor, and the dou is a dual core, the dual core is the better one, but it costs more
