How come it's called racism when African Americans are called 'blackies' or 'darkies', but SOME of them always refer to us as 'whities' and stuff. lol, I don't mean to offend, I was just wondering. :)

It's racism.
It goes uncontested because white people don't have a special minority lobby, or a rainbow coalition, that stands up for racism in general - just racism as it applies to minority agendas.

Where do you live where they call blacks "blackies and darkies". I swear i've never heard that before. Sure it's racist. You know that. You can't make a person do the right thing. All you can do is be accountable for your own actions.

not all feel it as racism, I have heard them ( african americans) call themselves the unkind word from the olden days and I have heard them talk about other white folk and black folk I think it depends who you are and how you feel about it...One woman who is white would not use black or white to differentiate the two but would say the woman wearing a brown dress with short sleeves...she described the clothing instead of the coloring. That made me feel good.

I think using the words 'blackies', 'darkies', 'whities' etc. should be viewed as exactly the same in terms of offensiveness. (I will let you judge how offensive those words are.)

I don't think it's racist but I feel uncomfortable to say "that black guy is sitting over there? He's hot" I don't like to name the race of the guy I'd say instead "That guy in the red shirt is hot!" I think it's only racist when you use racial slurrs like uh spik or the n word.

yeah its racism. i am not racist at all i just find it funny that white people have to tip toe around issues in fear of sounding racist but it is okay for black people. take BET. now imagine white people had WET. white entertainment television. haha they would go nuts.

LOL its only racism if you take offence... I walk up to several black guys (I'm white) and say "sup nig?".... cuz im friends with them so f you take offence yes its racism

Because whites are the dominant group and there is a lot of bad history b/t whites and blacks in the U.S. of course.
