Depends on what the thing is that you never had. I never owned my own private plane but I don't miss never having one. What about someone with abusive parents.......they've never had loving parents yet don't you think they've missed that? Some people may love dogs but can't have one because someone in their house is allergic.......they've never had one but they miss having one. Difficult question to answer (unless you are totally un-analytical!)

true ... although if you always wanted a barbie doll and it became this amazing treasure in your mind you may feel you are deprived of a something even though you never actually experienced it.
so maybe the phrase should read "you cant miss what you never knew about"
