Has anyone been diagnosed with a "threatened miscarriage?" Is it possible to have a healthy baby despite this?

I've had three ultrasounds so far, I'm considered high risk because of a previous second trimester miscarriage. I guess I just need a little reassurance because the last one started with this diagnosis and it's freaking me out a little.....it's beginning to feel like de ja vu and I really would rather not repeat that again. Thanks for all your answers, I feel like there's hope :)

Bleeding during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy is called a threatened miscarriage or threatened abortion. Although there is a chance you could lose the pregnancy, it is not certain to happen. Most women who have vaginal bleeding or spotting during early pregnancy have healthy babies.
Causes
Some pregnant women bleed around the usual time of their monthly period. Bleeding after having sex could be the result of an irritation on the cervix (bottom part of uterus). Often, no reason for spotting or bleeding can be discovered.
Signs/Symptoms
Bleeding is the most common sign of a threatened miscarriage. A low backache or cramps in the belly are other signs.
Care
Your cervix will be checked to see if it is closed, starting to open, or open. Your doctor will do a pelvic exam (also called an ""internal'') to check the size and shape of your uterus (womb). You may have an ultrasound. It is a painless test done while lying down. A dab of a jelly-like lotion is placed on your belly. The person doing the test will gently move a small handle through the lotion and across the skin, viewing a TV-like screen attached to the handle. You will need to rest and avoid sex for several days. This will not prevent a miscarriage, but it may reduce your bleeding and pain. There are no medicines that will stop the bleeding and cramping.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Call Your doctor If...
Your bleeding and cramping get worse. You should not have to use more than one pad each hour.
You feel weak or faint.
You have chills or a high temperature.
Seek Care Immediately If...
You pass large clots or other material that looks like tissue. Save the tissue in a clean container or plastic bag. Bring it with you when you come to be checked.

Hey sweetie, did you go to the ER? I was 14 weeks pregnant with my first and went to the ER in the middle of the night because I had a sudden large amount of bleeding. On the reports they had in big black letters, "Threatened Abortion." When I talked to my doctor about it on our next visit, he said that is just how they catorgorize the reason for your visit. Your uterus is pretty fragile and you may bleed occasionally but it's no big deal. I gave birth to a full term beautiful, healthy baby girl. Try not to stress to much, but be sure to talk about it with your doctor. Good luck!

just means that you have started spotting. I have had this go both ways, I just know that when I do have a miscarrage that it is gods way of taking a baby back that will not enjoy a life on earth. It is natural and is noones fault. it is what is best. Good luck, I hope you don't go threw this, but if you do then good luck.

Yes, you need to rest in bed on your left side. Keep in close contact with your doctor. If you haven't had one already, ask your doctor for an ultra sound. Some times they can tell what's wrong by doing an ultra sound & take more preventitive measures.
