Hey I blew up like a balloon both times more or less straight away but I always did the same before my period, I think some people retain water more than others. I think its important not to become to hung up on weight, I put on quite a bit with my first pregnancy and people were so rude to me I used to go home from work and cry. But my little boy and me were both fine and I lost the weight and more after. I have been a little more careful what I aeat this time around but I think its better to make sure you get a balanced diet, after all you can loose it later and a healthy baby is the aim here right? Good luck and take it easy!

Don't panic, I was the same, I didnt think that you gained weight at the beginning, but sometimes it happens, I would say that you should keep an eye on this though and if this continues at 2lb a week then I could consult your Doctor.

I was told that I wasn't a small frame to start with (therefore approximately a size 14 and so I seemed to gain weight quicker) but people I know who are a size 8 - 10 didnt seem to show until much later in there pregnancy

This will be perfectly normal - pregnant women gain weight differently. I put on weight quite quickly at the start of my pregnancy but now at 25wks have a lovely bump with little extra 'fat' everywhere else.

Just eat healthy and try not to worry about gaining weight ... your body is adapting for the baby inside you.

yes, your body has to adapt for carrying a baby. You'll gain weight at the beginning especially when you were under-weighed or weighted not too much for your height or you're just petite. At some point if you keep healthy diet you'd probably stop gaining weight too rapidly and will stick to regular weight gain during pregnancy. Good luck. But remember, don't diet at pregnancy. Healthy choices - that's what you need.

They say that during the first trimester most woman will gain between two to five pounds. Sometimes we find ourselves eating a little more if you have increased hunger which can put on more weight gain. You may not be eating alot but it also depends on what you are eating. I wouldn't worry about it unless the doctor says something.

I did the same thing! At 6 weeks I'd gained two pounds, and then morning sickness hit. Don't worry, every woman is different, so is every pregnancy. However your body reacts is going to be normal for you and this baby. Congrats by the way!

Your uterus all by itself could end up weighing more than two pounds by the time the baby is born. It's blood and other fluids needed to sustain the baby. Then as the baby grows, you have to allow some weight for it, however much it weighs, and also for the placenta.

All women experience weight gain at different times. I gained 30 lbs with one child and then only gained 15lbs with the other. It is all different.
So it is probably a norm for you and the way you body is built and your pregnancy.

As there is no "right" time for a woman to gain weight during her pregnancy ( no-one is the same), yes it is "normal" if you gain weight!
