In what amounts to one of the stupidest things I've ever done I caused the death of a guinea pig. We had 2 pigs from the time the kids were young. One died a year ago and this one could have lived another 2 years. My wife refused to give it away and so I fed it mice/rodent killer. Besides being a cruel thing for which I have to live with the rest of my life my wife knows the pig was poisoned. So now I have lied to her which also kills me since we have an open and honest marriage. I also have a friend who I put into a funny position because he knows the truth and will have to keep that from his wife to cover for me. Am I better off just going with the truth? If I tell her that puts her in a position where she has to lie to family, friends and neighbors since I don't want them knowing the truth. I will be branded a psychotic and judged the rest of my life I come clean to everybody. Suggestions?

As a Guinea pig owner myself I say sham on you!!! You do need to come clean to all because as you see one lie just leads to another and then another. Putting your wife in that situation is wrong as wrong as it was to kill the poor thing. Your friend who is keeping your lie alive is wrong too. An open and honest relationship is just than open and honest. As for the neighbors and everyone else judging you well you should of though of that b4 you poisoned the piggy. No need to make you feel worst as I'm sure you are regretting what you have done but you really are gonna feel a hole lot more worst if you keep this inside and keep ling to people. Just let it out and take what comes to you like a man. You know what they say you've made your bed now lie in it. Even tho people might look at you a bit differently you will feel better mentally because you did the right thing by coming clean in such a horrible situation. Good Luck with the feed back after coming clean.

Sorry, but you going to have tell the truth! The truth will come out sooner or later, it always does. Just think of the mess when you have to explain about the pig and not telling the truth. The longer you wait the worse it gets! Women are funny like that, they will forgive the pig murder but not the lying, and on the bright side at least you won't be branded a LYING psychotic.......

Hey, you're the winner that decided to give the Guinea Pig rat poison. It's kinda funny, but it's kinda sad too. You didn't need to kill the poor thing. But now that that is done, I think you need to free your conscience. Just tell the truth... but spin it in a way where you told the truth, but just PART of the truth. Tell her that the guinea pig ate the poison, but pretend like it got in there by accident. Lying a little here won't kill your wife... that is if YOU dont get to her first... you evil SOB! haha.

Fess up... be a man. You made a decision, now live with it.

If there is anyone that you should be honest with it's your wife. Tell her the truth and convey to her how sorry you are about it. You guys are a unit and a team and if you need this secret kept between the two of you, and you do, than that should be something you tackle together. What happens in your family is no concern of the neighbors and even your friends. If you continue to lie to your wife about this and she finds out through a friend what could that do to your relationship? Just be open with her and ask her not to tell anyone about it.

By the looks of it the guilt is eating you up inside. You need to come out with the truth and be real about the situation. Feeling guilty for a loong time is not a good feeling so just tell the truth and go from there.

Yes the truth may hurt but if the death of a guinea pig is tearing you up this much please tell her and beg her forgiveness. In the future be sure your ethical and moral compass is pointed in the correct direction before you do something like this again.

wow, I don't even know what to advise on this, you obviously know how cruel that was, so I am not gonna go on at you either. I think it would make things worse to tell, but really it is up to you in the end. Please please don't do anything like this again, that poor animal suffered a horrible fate and it would be awful for you to do something like that again.

Do NOT tell her the truth..
You commitied the crime and it is on your conscience, don't dump it on her, an innocent party , just so you can share the load...
"If you can't do the time, don't do the crime"...
Be a man, be responsible for your own actions...

You are a pig and you deserve what you get...don't know your wife but if I were her, I wouldn't forgive you for being such a cold hearted, insensitive prick.
