I am getting a cable router to enable wireless Internet on my computer upstairs, but, I need to check whether I can connect my computer downstairs to the router via a wire, as it does not have wireless capability.

Thanks.
Brad.

All depends on where your router will be in respect to the computer. If it is close then get a router with both wired and wireless connections. I have a dlink DI-524 which has both. But if that computer is on the other side of the room you make want to consider wireless rather than having a wire running all the way around the room

If your router has got a RJ-45 slot, then you can connect it via cable. If you need to work with wireless, then you should have either a wireless router capability or to have an access point that is connected to the router and wirelessly to your PC or Labtop.
