um, that had nothing to do with democrats? That was a strike that happened because the school officials wanted to give themsleves raises, and give the teachers pay cuts. They didn't give a contract to the teachers. If you weren't getting paid, would you still go to work? Because the teachers DID go back to work, even though they weren't getting paid, and their future was uncertain. The school decided to spring the idea of no contracts on the teachers about 1 week before school started. Evevryone went to the tabes and had talks, and figured out a mutually beneficial situation. And that was a few months ago. Does it hurt you that a problem was solved to the benefit of both [arties, in an orderly fashion, with limited upset? Not used to that kind of stuff from the republicans, huh? Or maybe you just think that teachers should work for free? Not very conservative of you, shiraz...everybody in this country who works should get paid.

Not sure what you mean by 'shut down'.

Do you mean 'shut down' as in close schools because of the massively declining enrollment because the people are fleeing in droves to the suburbs, due to the fact that after 4+ decades of liberal Democrat rule, Detroit has achieve the true results of the liberal dream? And because of the failure of the liberal Democrat policies to have achieved anything resembling prosperity, they had to close down the DNC-supporters' jobs programs, aka unionized schools?

Or do you mean 'shut down' as in the teachers' strikes shutting down the schools? Closing the schools that already ill-serve the public, with high drop out rates and low achievement?

What exactly do you mean?
