I have an Apple iMac (not Intel) that is not wireless enabled. I also have a PC laptop and a USB printer. I also have a wireless router from Orange. My question is - how do i connect the apple wirelessly to my broadband - do i need to get airport or something to make the iMac wireless. Also is there anyway that i can make the printer wirelessly accessible to both the PC Laptop and the iMac??

Thanks!

Thanks for this guys. The iMac is one of the new flat screen ones 17" and has model number A1085 dated 2004.

My router comes from orange so not sure whether it will work with the printer - should the iMac automatically pick up the router when the card is installed because i have heard that there can be problems between orange and apple!

Thanks,

Danny

Hi Danny...you'll need to purchase an airport card for your iMac model http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=airport+card+for+imac&btnG=Google+Search in order to use the wireless network. As for the printer it would need to be hooked up into the wireless router so that both machines can access it.

OK, yes, (1) you need an Airport card in your iMac. (2)You then need to determine if your router has a USB port for the printer. (3)You next need to determine if the router will share your model of printer over the wireless network. This can be verified at the router maker's web site. Not all routers will share all printers. If you got "Yes" for all three of these questions, you should install the printer software unless it is already included with the Mac OS software (many popular printers software drivers are included with the Mac OS install).

(4) Next you need to setup printer sharing on the iMac. Although Apple does not try to tell you how to do this for another company's wireless station, they give details of how to do it with the Apple Airport station in the article below and most of it applies to other wireless stations:
