This happened to my pc, probably my teenage son visiting sites....anyway, what you're describing is a hi-jack and this is usually due to a trojan virus. Hi-jacks aren't always limited to just one location i.e. you could be trying to look at news or sports and get re-routed just the same. I would close everything unplug the dsl and run your anti-virus software as well as a standard microsoft drive clean up. There is also a free program called Stinger that locates the hi-jacking command on your system and allows you to delete it there. If you cannot fix the problem with anti-virus or stinger you will need to reinstall internet explorer.

You should download some sort of pop-up blocker to stop that from happening. I used to get those popups from many sites, but the popup blocker took care of all that. I think you can actually download yahoo toolbar with a popup blocker - or you can search the web for others. Good luck.

Because someone used your computer to enter a sex site and this opened the gateway. You'll need to use pop up blocker and filters for your email as well. You may also need to scan and clean with a spyware. You can also go in to your computer and clear cookies, as I also did.

Because they love you and want to be your friend in the dead of night when only you and your hand are available...
Because you are visiting sites where the webmasters are trying to make some extra money by including popups with the site. If you do not like this, upgrade your browser, I suggest FireFox.
