I am not a medical person, but I think I read somewhere that if you sit real still for awhile that your body will try to go to sleep. So wiggle your toes or do some pointing exercise with your feet. Under the pew or desk. Take a deep breath in and out about 3 times. Of course, you want to get a good nights sleep every night. Just the night before is not enough, because sleep lag catches up with you. Get at least 8 hours every night. I find that I need about 9. Go to bed at the same time and get up at the same time so that you body gets use to a rhythm. You could also drink about 1/2 cup of coffee before you go.

Your probably like me. I always fell asleep or wanted to fall asleep during class or church. I ways asked the same question, how do I stay awake. People aways said, "get a good nights rest." Well it don't work that easy! If you are like me your BORED! I always have to move around.
What I do to stay awake: shake or bounce my legs, chew or suck on hard candy, doodle on paper & ask a lot of questions! If you ask a lot of questions in class the teacher will be directly talking to you & your proned to be more alert or entertand.
Just ask a lot of questions, who cares if people think you a stupid or whatever. At least you will be a awake & awake for the test. & remember you will never know if you don't ask.

First of all, it is very important that you need to get a good nights sleep.
Secondly, you must have a proper breakfast, preferably with some protein.
Try an omelet and juice and cup of coffee/tea and you should be fine.
Avoid having a heavy carb breakfast or it's just going to make you more tired--no waffles, pancakes, hash browns. These foods will fill you up but they won't give you the energy you need to stay awake.

Try drinking soda just before you come into class or church. Sweets can always make you feel alert and active so as to avoid this unintentional sleeping and embarrassment. If this fails too, try pinching yourself near your underarms (where the skin is thin and quite sensitive) to perk you up...

Get more quality rest at home. The average American doesn't get nearly enough sleep on a daily basis...we all need 8-10 hours of sleep, not just our children. Turn off the TV, snuggle down and sleep. Also try a good mutli vitamin daily...this has helped with my energy level. Good luck...

You need to get a good nights sleep and if you already are then maybe you are just bored. I used to do this too. Even if I wasn't tired. Try to really focus on what they are saying and try to pay attention. This may sound dumb, but try eating a mint or chewing gum. It gives you something else to do instead of just sitting there listening.

Get a good nights sleep before class or church. Are you overweight? perhaps you have sleep apnea. If this continues, it could be dangerous especially if you drive. Tell the doc. godloveya.

Go to bed earlier then you are now. Sounds like your not going to bed soon enough. OR church and school is just down right boring for you.
