If your router is capable of WIFI its likely to have a CAT5 ethernet connection too... so just use a cable.
Cost: £5 approx.

If your laptop wants to go WIFI then purchase a wireless card.
Cost: £20 approx.

Cant use a wireless card? Use a USB dongel. Not as stable in my experience as the above solutions. (check spelling)
Cost: £20 approx.

If you need help on what types then ask a local shop but most laptops have the capablitiy to do so.

If it's a wireless router, just buy a wireless network card for your laptop for about $30. Here is a website with some examples: http://www.geeks.com/products_sc.asp?cat=652

You can even buy one at Wal-Mart, Staples, or any place like that.

If it's not wireless (or if the wireless router is Ethernet ready), use an ethernet or USB cord. Ethernet is faster than USB. An ethernet looks like a phone cord, but is wider. You should have an ethernet port on your computer if it's newer. If not, you'll need to buy a PCI card.

If the router has an antenna on it, that's an easy way to tell it's a wireless one.
