HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry. I think the answer to your question is that there are too many stupid voters. Heck, about 2/3 just vote mostly on party lines without thinking about the people or the issues. The other third is often too lazy to look up the officials or thik about the issues and those that actually take the time to think about their votes are drowned out by the stupidity of the other 90% that voted. On top of that there's corruption as to how the districts are drawn up. There's corruption in the counting process. On top of all that there's a lot of power and a lot of big opportunities to be corrupted. I think that the biggest problem with the U.S. government is that the people don't care. Officials can get away with stuff because nobody cares.

A clean sweep is needed here, I think a form of marshal law would sort out the chaff from the corn (wheat).
Cut the saleries of high office and have these officials serve a course in basic living and see how they would survive.
Everyone has to go on pension so the savings on the salaries would and the assist the elderly & the NHS.

I think the answer to the first part of your question might be that "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely".
And for the second part of your question, I'm totally agree with you. in my country (Iran), people always are acting as you mentioned. the current president had a lot of voters,(of course i'm not denying cheating in election), but after a month they start to kidding him because of his quotes. But i think the reason is that we never want to accept that we made a mistake in our choice. We just want to give them more time for doing something that they are unable to do. and this is a quote from Adolph Hitler:"The great masses of people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one. Especially if it is repeated over and over."

We don't elect officials. your presidential vote doesn't count, it is all on how the representatives vote that count. How do they get elected? the same way, your state representatives vote. Whoever they want to be in power will be in power. they look out for their own rich counterparts in turn for favors in the future. The only person you really do vote for is sheriff, and that is only if your county has less than about 10,000 people in it. Everyone else is elected by representation.

I for one think it is 'We The People' that believed or wanted to believe the horsepucky the canidate was spreading, that in turn voted them into office. Once there ,the governmental official used his/her slight of hand trick and used the famous finger and thumb,in the shape of a 'L', in the middle of their forhead in acknowledgement of us, you and me, the common people, gullible from the start.

As I think that we make them corrupt by compromising in front of them and giving them the opportunity to take advantage of us.

Ah, that, young Daniel-son, is a question of futility. Asking that is like asking, "What is the sound of one hand clapping?", "If a tree falls in the forest...?", or "What is the meaning in Pauly Shore's last movie?" Our wisest of men have lost their minds pondering that question.
