First of all, your a great mom to help him! Second, a fair and reasonable amount would be $125 a week to help cover food and utilities. Third, it would be wise to help him learn how to save money to get him out of debt. My parents did that for me and I'm now debt free. I had over $25,000 in debt when I was 25 because of a failed marriage and college. I'm now 30 and have better credit thanks to my parents and the Lord as well. I'll forever be thankful for them. Best of luck! :)

If he's trying to pay off his debt I wouldnt charge too much. When my sister moved back home my mother charged her about 40-50 dollars per month and she bought her own groceries. If he's just blowing his money anyway I'd go higher than that. maybe 100-150 a month.

depending on your needs... is he helping with the food? other bills....he should pay something...he will be using all the services that you have so i would sit down with him and talk it over......he is a adult and needs to help you while you are helping him...[he was paying rent somewhere] and would save money just by not paying for utilities, water, laundry etc... does he has child support payments, alimony payments, try to figure the amount he has in income and support payments that he has to pay each month, and the other bills can be paid as he can....or he can sigh up with debt solutions ..this service works real well, he can list all of his outstanding debts, and the company will contact his debters and make a deal with them to lower the amount owed. and he makes monthly payments to debt solutions...and they make payments to the debters....this clears all calls from collection agencies and cancells his accounts and credit cards...so he can not charge anymore .[if he has support payments, i would pay them from his paycheck each month and should also pay you for rent and board...] hope this helps.]
