On Yahoo mail you can put up to 500 in your ignore box and they will make sure they don't get through to you but the rest of the millions will i'm afraid.

Its safest to have 3 addresses; the one you get with your isp you should keep strictly private, treat it like an ex directory phone number.
A second free address (eg a Yahoo one ) use for friends and family, signing up for web services etc. British companies are obliged to keep these details private and are not allowed to sell your address on. You'll find this one should stay spam free for at least a year. When it gets too bad you just set up another, give your contacts the new address and delete the old one.
Have a third address for public use, publishing on the web, e-bay and so on. This one will fill up with spam very quickly. All you do is change it when it does.
You cannot stop companies sending you spam. You should never open any e-mail from an address you don't recognise, or a subject that looks like it might be spam. Opening the e-mail makes it dial home, which tells the spammer your address is active; they then sell it on.

You are spammed because of your internet uses such as shopping or even something as simple as researching. Do not be alarmed. Have your Bulk Mail folder open and working at all times in your mailbox and it will catch 80% of your spam. I do not even look in there..just hit delete and clean it our every morning. I do not spend good money buying spam protectors, my friend, because spammers are really smart and can get around anything you try to use as a protector. Just save the money and worries and take your free finger and press delete!

Not much at this point except for adjusting your filters. And don't ever "unsubscribe" from the emails or click on any links, that will just tell them that your email addy is active and they will start using it and/or selling it to other companies.

go to your mail options, and set it up so that the only people who can email you are those people in your address book, then go to your address book and review each contact and eliminate anyone you do not wish to receive emails from.
