I am 10 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first child. When I got pregnant I weighed about 127. I now weigh about 130-131. I really hope I haven't gained to much to fast. Does this sound normal to anyone? Also how can I return to my normal body after birth? Anything I can do while pregnant to help?

I am a nutritionist

the expected healthy weight gain during pregnancy is as follows
first trimester (weeks 0-13) 0-4lbs water weight
second and third trimester (weeks 14-40) .8-1.2 lbs each week
total not to exceed 40 lbs (gaining more than 40 lbs during a pregnancy is not healthy for you or the baby)

It's perfectly normal - every woman varies as to where she gains weight - personally between 4 - 8 months is where I gained the most (my perfect little bundle of joy is now 6 months), some of my friends gained loads at the beginning then next to nothing later - others where the exact opposite. Really speaking for the bulk of your pregnancy you should find you will be eating the same quantity as before you fell pregnant, occasionally more (but not 'for two' all the way through) - ideally try and eat healthy and I'm sure you'll have no problems.
Personally I gained 2 1/2 stone throughout the pregnany - a week after delivery I was 6lbs over the weight I was prior to concieving - That 6lbs shifted slowly....
Breastfeeding helps and remembering to eat healthy after the birth - my main problem was not doing and for that reason the weight lingered..
I think the key factor to remember here is to not obsess about it too much - this is a magical time for you and you truely dont need to worry yourself about weight - just concentrate on staying healthy for you and your precious gift - enjoy every minute of it...
it passes so quickly.
Good Luck

Hi, I know you worrys!
I am about 5 weeks and already I have gained a fair bit of weight!
Some people think i might be carrying twins. I am yet to go for an ultrasound.
As for returning to normal body shape, get some exercise. Walking, and swimming are great for you. Just dont do things to strenuous. I used to work out before I fell pregnant. I still do, just not as much or as hard.
Walking will not harm your baby unless being told otherwise. It's good for you and can reduce the symptoms of morning sickness (If your getting it!)
Take care...

And congratulations!!!!

This is an exciting query! I began heavy with my first at 185 lbs and received forty lbs. My little one used to be eight lbs. 10 oz.. I misplaced all of the forty lbs. plus another 20 lbs. after approximately two months way to breastfeeding(and giving up chocolate considering it made my son gassy)! With my moment I began at 168 and received approximately 37 lbs. and had a eight lbs. thirteen oz.. woman. I do not feel that gaining extra weight implies that your little one will probably be greater, than person who does not achieve as a lot. But I do feel that it would do along with your vitamin. Some folks can devour plenty of junk meals and achieve much less weight, than anyone who eats fitter. But I might bet that the character who ate a more fit meal might have a smaller little one. You might certainly ought to recollect WHEN folks have their infants. Someone who has a little one at 38 weeks, must technically have a smaller little one than anyone who has a little one at forty weeks. Plus I ponder whether genetics would have some thing to do with it? Most of my mothers eleven children and my MIL four children have been over eight lbs. Just idea I'd attempt to supply you extra matters to bear in mind for beginning weight!

No, you haven't gained too much. Please don't spend your whole pregnancy obsessing about your weight. Just eat when you are hungry, eat mostly healthy foods but treat yourself sometimes. I've had friends who gorged themselves and used pregnancy as an excuse to eat a lot and gain a lot. I've also had friends who counted every pound added and worried and worried about how to lose the weight once the baby came, every one of them ended up having a baby who was underweight and had trouble eating after birth. Get a good guide, like What to Eat When You are Expecting.

That sounds really normal to me.

To return to your normal weight after birth, it will take diet and exercise. There is little you can do while preggo to help aside from eating well. You can't diet or exercise hard while preggo.

Your weight gain is fine. be careful though, because if gaining too much weight is on your mind, then you may not eat enough to give your baby all of the nutrients it needs.
