Men don't really enjoy chick flicks. A lot of them want to, and even TRY to, out of sensitivity toward the women in their lives --but I've come to believe that they just aren't wired properly to fully appreciate a good chick flick. Women will gladly watch the same old movie time and time again, and cry each time at the same parts, despite having seen it a dozen or more times. Men don't understand this concept -- that women LIKE to watch tragic love stories -- and the more kleenex required, the better. I was recently watching one of my favorite tear jerkers, and my husband sat through it with me, faithful guy that he is, and even seemed to enjoy it for the most part. But all the same, he looked at me like I had three heads when he noticed my sniffling toward the end -- ummmm, you've seen this already, you're crying why?? (And he's one of the more sensitive types.) Then again, I watch ALL of the major (and not so major) sporting events with him, held at any given time from January through December, so in return it's really not the worst thing in the world for him to occasionally summon up the strength to struggle through Bridges of Madison County, The Joy Luck Club, Wuthering Heights, or some other serious chick flick. It's a combination of love and compromise -- and for him, major brownie points to fall back on and refer to when he's trying to convince me of the merits of watching an entire evening of baseball as opposed to a 3 hour documentary on the History Channel.

Woman: YOU NEVER DO ANYTHING FOR ME!!!
Man: I took you to that chick flick movie once! You see what I do for you!
