I'm about 5 weeks pregnant, it's my first pregnancy and i find myself basically counting down each day as it goes. it seems like its going to take forver. What can I do to make it go a bit faster? Or at least keep my mind off it. It's all I think about and each day seems like 3 weeks. Then the day after I go to look up what stage the baby is at and I realise its at the same stage as it was the day before. What do I do? I think its driving me insane. Has anyone else ever felt like this??

Girl, tell me about it! I was due on Sat. No baby or contractions yet! Congratulations to you! Get online and look up a pregnancy site/childbirth site that will track your due date, and your baby's growth progress. A lot has happened already! This week, in fact, the tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood. You'll probably be able to hear the heartbeat at your next appointment. That always makes it real for me. Start buying maternity clothes. Motherhood, A Pea In The Pod, and Destination Maternity have a fake belly you can put on in the dressing room so you can see what you'll look like. Start buying diapers! You can return or exchange diapers if they're unopened. Open a pack of the tiny ones though...you will be excited! Think of names...boy and girl. Start figuring out what you're going to do in the nursery. Figure out what you're going to do for babysitting if you can't stay home. If you're getting sick, eat. All the time. Have hard candy in your mouth, or gum constantly. When you hold your new baby in your arms after the miracle of birth, and this seemingly endless road of pregnancy, it will all be worth it! You will finally be able to wrap your head around the true meaning of the word LOVE! Praying for your peace & health! Relax in a big bubble bath, and take a breath.

It's going slow because you're counting days instead of weeks. If you count weeks, the baby will actually be in a different stage. You could be so involved in the pregancy that you aren't focusing on other areas of your life. Remember to do the things that made you happy before the pregnancy to get your mind off it. Remember the saying that the toast is never ready when you are watching it. Go have some fun and enjoy this special time in your life.

Wow, you have a long time left to be counting down the days. I am 39 weeks pregnant and due Saturday. I have been counting down the days for a month. I thought I was loosing my mind being this close and counting. It is a woman's instinct. I however would suggest for you, maybe a small vacation or something. Get away and get your mind off of it. I would suggest maybe looking into a pregnant yoga or swim class in your area so you can talk to other mom's about what your feeling and it will keep you in shape and give you a place to talk and relax with other mom's so you might not be so anxious.

I'm 28 weeks and I am still counting down the days, some days I think wow its going fast and other days I feel like, when will it be over so I can hold my baby. You just have to put your mind on other things if you can, I was just like you in my early weeks because I was worried about the development of my baby and it was driving me insane. But you need to put other things on your mind like reading or looking at birth videos, that slowed my thinking down a lot, because when you see a child being born, you start thinking about you being in that same position and you start thinking I can wait a little longer before I have pain. So try different things to do so you don't drive yourself crazy. Good Luck and God Bless..

i did the same thing!! And once you get your ultrasound and find out what you are having then you will do it even more!!!! Trust me though it WILL go faster then you think and when its all over you'll look back and say "i was pregnant for that long". It will just feel like a little dot on the map of whats to come.

My son will be 5 months on Friday and sometimes I catch myself still doing it thinking Oh he's going to be 6 months, I can't wait. But now i'm better I try to just focus on each day and really enjoy it because once the baby is here its DOES GO FAST!!

Good luck and congrats!

Yeah I get that.
Just stay busy.
Read, find a hobby. make the baby a quilt, volunteer somewhere.
Decorate the nursery. Rest you are going to need it.
Limit your self to looking at baby's development only once a month. Pick a specific day and celebrate that each month . That way you have something to look forward to.
Yes time drags now. But believe me as soon as the baby is here... time flies.
A year from now you will be amazed.... seriously bewildered that you child is nearly four months old. THAT will blow your mind.
Just relax and enjoy.

girl you have a long way to go. i would suggest that you start reading name books unless you already have that covered. i found that i like about 100 name and i came up with about 50 different combos to name my next son or daughter. if your still working this something else that can keep you busy. remember not to over do it though. not working yeah!! everyone has at lease two girlfriends that are never ever doing anything. since your 5 weeks you probably aren't in full mom mode ( this is when every conversation you start has something to do with babies, bottles and your breast) go out with the girls shopping. with today's fashion you really don't have to do the maternity thing ( i swear they leave all of the ugly flower print to make our clothes with) just think when you do start showing you get way more attention. you can use your tummy to get special treatment pratically everywhere you go. just enjoy "the all about you time " your going to get and watch your pregnancy fly by.

i was like that when i first found out I was pregnant. i am now 25 weeks along. I tend to take my mind off of waiting by thinking of things to look forward to in the coming weeks. For example, the holiday's are coming up and its never too early to prepair for that! Maybe getting a hobby is a good idea, like craft projects or something. It's SSSOOOOO hard to wait, I know, I am not the most patient person in the world!

yeah with my first one i was like that and toward the end of my second too. I guess all you really have to do is try to focus on other things . like your health and diet also you should be trying to think of baby names read baby books pick stuff for the nursery. believe me enjoy this time bieng pregnant is a wonderful thing. its the closest you will ever be to your child. holding the baby right below your heart. enjoy sleeping pass 6 and all through the night because soon that will all be in the past. not that i mind. i love waking with my children, but some people i have talked to say that thats what they miss the most. go to a movie while you can still sit through one. soon you'll have to pee to much to be able to sit through. basically enjoy bieng pregnant . its a wonderful thing.
