Well, I do know how you feel. My boss(es) are like that too. Two faced people are hard to get around in this world. It will come back to get him without you having to do anything. Be the bigger person and take a higher road then him. I would also go to him and let him know how I feel. I would let him know he is no longer friend but, foe. Explain to him why. I hope you got/get the new job. I totally feel for you, I am there now.

First of all, calm down and get your temper in check. Now, I don't know if it's different in every state or a nationwide thing, but it's illegal for an employer to give a bad reference so you can get his *** in legal trouble. If this does not apply to you, have your potential employer call a co-worker and explain the situation in a professional matter without it sounding like you are bashing your current boss; because if you are going to bad mouth a previous employer to a potential one, it just makes you look bad. And from now on, keep work and personal relationships seperate because they can get messy and always remember that no matter how much a company may say they value you, etc. in the end they only care about themselves and their business so you need to take care of you.

If you annual evaluations from this "boss" have been good in the past, include those with your references. I learned a long time ago that , at work we have acquaintances, not friends. Find out if this person has tainted your relationship within the company which will keep you from getting a promotion. It is time to change departments, if possible, and keep looking outside the company. Good Luck.

Wait until you have calmed down and calmly confront him. If he truly is your friend, maybe he contact the people in person and explain you are so valuable to him that he just didn't want to let you go. Try explaining no matter what he says, you are going to leave the company anyways but that if he agrees to try and make it right, he may be able to save the friendship. Good luck

You have to be the bigger person, revenge is not the answer. Just forget about what he did, if it is for you, you will get the job. He does not hold your future in his hands. So forget about him. You have to be positive, and do the right things. and good things will always come back to you,

Tough one, trust your other referances -
if your boss is being a pest to the extent you feel discriminated against you try your union.

Business and Pleasure are tough bedfellows -
hence the saying never mix business and pleasure -
there are exeption to this - just hope yours is one of them

Do not get angry, get even.

Do nothing now, work hard, make sure you get a BETTER POSITION than him. At that stage decide if it is worth doing something about his spitefull and childish attitude. If you do want to do something, you will be in a stronger position to do so.

Problem you've got is you might come across him again in the future, e.g he might move to your new firm one day and be your boss again. My old boss was a c#nt so i raided his office and have got enough dirt on him to f him in the future if i ever need to. Always better to have information in reserve for when you really need it.
